LOCAL 340 EVENTS
By the time this reaches you the RENEW will have held their Poker Tournament. We are excited to be bringing back events to the membership and allowing our committees come together and raise funds to help ongoing efforts to bring our Union together and remain united.
Below are some upcoming events we have that are informational, entertaining and commemorative.
PIN PRESENTATION – SATURDAY 11/5/2022
We all know it has been some time since we gathered and have been able to hold our Pin Presentation, so this year we are hold an event to honor all those who would have been due a pin from the years 2020 to current. Earlier this year we mailed out Save The Dates then in early August we mailed out the invites and RSVPs to those recipients. We understand that not all may be able to attend or may still be hesitant to, but we want all those due a pin know how significant this milestone is and you are recognized. We hope to see as many of you as possible!
PREPARING TO RETIRE – 11/12/2022
Last bulletin we mentioned an upcoming event for those members thinking about retiring or getting ready to retire. Plans are being finalized and we are getting a schedule set for this event. We will have speakers from National Electrical Benefit Fund, Social Security, and the Local Pension to provide those attending information about these plans and common questions people have. This event is set for November 12th and will be from 9 AM to 1 PM. If you would like to attend, we encourage you to bring your spouse and RSVP to Clerical Assistant Kao Nu at 916-927-4239 ext. 1001.
NEW MEMBER ORIENTATION
The next class for new members will take place on September 27th at 5 pm. We are bringing this class back to in person at the hall and we encourage you to bring your spouse or partner along with you. Reminders will be sent out a week prior to the class via email so it is important your information is up to date with the hall. This class is very informative and addresses numerous topics that many new members have questions about.
340 ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP PICNIC
By the time this reaches you, we will have held our second to last picnic meeting. There will still be one more meeting until our scheduled picnic. We are still looking for volunteers, which include end of day clean up, food servers and set up early in the morning. If you have not turned in RSVP to this event of the year, reach out to the hall and we can send you one via email or mail. To help with our annual membership picnic, please reach out to Office Manager Reyna Jimenez at 916-539-0412 or by email at reyna@ibewlocal340.org.
OPERATION CHRISTMAS BASKET RAFFLE 2022
Plans are underway for our Annual Operation Christmas Basket fundraiser. Funds, tickets and prizes are being planned behind the scenes. We will have more information in the upcoming months so be on the lookout to help support this great cause for union families who may struggle during the Holidays. Every dollar that is raised goes to help purchase food and toys for all Union members in all the Trades in the Sacramento area. Let’s keep this tradition going strong that started over 40 years ago by IBEW Brother Lud Larson and Brother Harry Bain. Be on the lookout once tickets go on sale!
ACCIDENTS/ILLNESSES
Retired Brother Joseph Bell passed 7/14/22. He was a 59-year member and 79 years of age.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to the deceased member’s family.
