MONTHLY BASIC DUES INCREASE – ALL “A” MEMBERS
Effective January 2023 dues for monthly membership for all “A” members will be increased by $4.00. If you are on automatic dues checkoff, you will see the increase on your first receipt for January 2023 basic dues. Notices have been mailed out with the most recent dues checkoff receipts. We also sent letters to those who previously paid in advance, which now shows a difference in dues owed on your account, this is for any dues payments made prior to the announcement of the increase. Please be sure to inform your bank if you have checks sent in on your behalf.
EWMC ANNUAL RIB COOK OFF
The return of the Annual Rib Cook Off went great for our EWMC. It was held October 22nd at our Union Hall. If you attended, you may have been one of many who won their amazing raffle prizes. The turnout wasn’t as big as expected but a great crowd none the less. The winners from this year was a tie! Bragging rights went both to Brother Iggy Rodriguez and Stephanie Collins. We look forward to this event next year and hope you can join us then.
PIN PRESENTATION
By the time this reaches you, our Pin Presentation will have taken place. We were happy to hold this beloved event once again. It was such a sight to see all the “old-timers” with their stories and reminiscing with old friends. All in attendance greatly appreciated the work that was put in to make this an event to remember. We look forward to holding these events again annually and hope to continue getting a great turnout.
OTHER OFFICE EVENTS
We are currently in the works of getting ready to hold a Steward’s class in early December as well as a Women’s workshop. The Steward training will have 15 spots available, and we anticipate they will fill up fast. If you are interested in attending this class, please contact Mike Franklin at 916-767-8516. The Women’s workshop will be open to all members, not just women. To RSVP a spot for this workshop please call Matt Nootenboom at 916-594-5255. This class will also be limited in space. If either of these classes are of interest to you, please reach immediately to the appropriate contact.
PREPARING TO RETIRE – POSTPONED TO 2023
As we mentioned in the previous bulletin this event has been postponed to 2023. We do not have an official date as of yet, but notices have been sent to all members 55 years and older noting the postponement. The reason for the date change was it was on a holiday weekend and didn’t want anyone to miss out on this very important event in the event they were out of town. Those members who previously RSVP’d we will be keeping in touch when new details arise. If you would like to be on the mailing list and attend the event in 2023, please RSVP to our office at 916-927-4239.
NEW MEMBER ORIENTATION
Our next class will be held on January 10th at 5 pm in our Union Hall. Members of the Northern Unit will attend with John Roden at the Redding Hall and join in on the first portion via zoom with the Sacramento Hall. Reminders will be sent out a week prior to the class via email. This class is very informative and addresses numerous topics that many new members have questions about. We encourage you to bring your spouse or significant other with you to the class.
OPERATION CHRISTMAS BASKET 2022
The tickets are available for donation and pick up at the hall! Come help support the cause that started over 40 years ago by IBEW Brother Lud Larson and Brother Harry Bain. Every dollar that is raised goes to help purchase food and toys for all Union members in all the Trades in the Sacramento area. In keeping with tradition, the prizes are $1,500 cash, shotgun, and $200 in lottery tickets!
We are also asking, if you are able to donate any non-perishable food items or unwrapped toys, please stop by the hall in the coming weeks to drop them off. These items will be given specifically to our Local 340 members who are in need of a little extra help this holiday season. If you find yourself in this position, please reach out to our Office Manager Reyna at 916-539-0412 to have your name added to our list of members needing assistance this holiday season. The deadline for submitting your name will be November 23rd.
The drawing and holiday meeting will be held on December 7th at our Union Hall. We encourage those residing in the Northern Unit to come kick off the holiday season. This meeting will be at the Sacramento Hall at 5 pm. Please note it is an hour earlier than our normal start time. We will be hosting a delicious dinner and plenty of other raffle prizes.
