LOCAL ELECTIONS
Hopefully, you have sent in your ballot for the 2019 Local 340 Elections and placed your vote for the candidates you feel will best represent you for the next three (3) years. All Local officers elected in the June 1st election will be sworn in at the regularly scheduled Membership Meeting to be held on Wednesday, July 3rd in Sacramento.
JOBSITE PICTURE NEEDED
Our Projects Coordinator Patty Paterson is getting ready to retire this year and one of the projects she would like to finish up before she goes is the gathering of all of our pictures and getting them labeled and in one place. We have quite a lot of pictures but when she started with what we have, she realized that you, the members, would probably have the best jobsite and work pictures on your phones! If you feel you have some good pictures of projects you have worked on, email them to the hall and we will put them in our collection for future reference and slideshows. You can send them to jvillasenor@ibewlocal340.org. Please be sure to note what job it is and the year it was taken. Also, give us member names where applicable. Thank you.
OPEN HOUSE/PIN PRESENTATION
Thanks to everyone who came to our Open House/Pin Presentation on Saturday May 4th. I also want to take this opportunity to thank all of Local 340’s staff for helping to get our new facility spruced up for this event, as well as for showing up on a Saturday to ensure that everyone who attended the event had a great time. I know the members who came, especially the Retirees who received their 50+ years of service IBEW pins, were very grateful that you all took care of them so well.
TRADE SHOW
The Annual Electrical Expo Trade Show sponsored by our JATC was held prior to our May 1st Union Meeting here at the new Hall. It was organized by JATC Director Matthew Nootenboom, Instructors Ken Irwin and Tom Okumura and they were aided by this year’s graduating apprentices.
If you were there you might have had the opportunity to see Local 340 Exam Board Member Brother Patrick Tait hanging like a human pinata when he tried out a demo of the Warner Adjustable Body Harness “Chair in the Air”. This safety demonstration by Ebbert Pacific was only one of the demonstrations at the Trade Show. Other companies who gave demonstrations and/or handed out freebies were Werner Ladder, Greenlee Tools, Milwaukee Tools, Eaton Equipment, Philips, Leviton, Ideal, Fluke, Lift, Rack a Tiers, Knipiz, Streamlight, Klein and Southwire Tools.
I always look forward to this Annual Trade Show and want to thank all of the members who participated this year to make this event the success it was.
CAMPFIRE DONATIONS TOTAL OVER $172,000!
The $172,000.00 collected for the Local 340 Campfire Fundraiser was disbursed to 20 IBEW members who lost their homes in the devastating Campfire. On behalf of these members, I want to thank all of you who donated. We met with several of these members in February and heard their individual stories. Unfortunately, not everyone is able to rebuild but I can tell you all of them were extremely grateful for the help they received through your donations.
SCHOLARSHIP – High School Graduates of Shasta, Siskiyou, Trinity, Tehama or Modoc Counties
Three (3) $1,500 scholarships will be awarded by the Five Counties Central Labor Council in 2019. Applicants must have graduated high school in the Fall of 2018 or Spring of 2019, attended a school located in the above referenced counties and be either a union member or the child or grandchild of a current union member or deceased union member. Deadline is June 26, 2019. For an application or more information on this scholarship, contact Brother Andrew Meredith at ameredith@ibewlocal340.org or phone him at the Hall @ 530-241-2468.
ATTENTION: SOUND & COMM AND COUNTY/CITY EMPLOYEES
Neither of these Units had a quorum at the April regularly scheduled unit meetings. No quorum = no meeting. If you want to be involved with issues pertaining only to your classifications, you need to make it a point to attend your Unit quarterly meetings. Next Unit meetings are scheduled for July. There will be no special reminders sent. The date and time of these meetings are noted every single month in the Labor Bulletin. Please mark your calendars and plan to attend in July. Thank you.
MEMBERSHIP PICNIC
The membership picnic will be held at Hagan Community Park in Rancho Cordova on Saturday September 14th! Look for your flier and RSVP in the mail in early July and remember, we can always use picnic volunteers so if you or your family members can help, be sure to mark your RSVP accordingly and the committee will get back to you. Thank you!
SPORTSMAN’S CLUB ANNUAL FUNDRAISER
Raffle tickets are now available for the annual Sportsman’s Club fundraiser. You can buy them at any meeting or event or from any of the Sportsman Club members. Tickets are $5 each or $20 for a book of 5.

CLAY SHOOT
Thank you to the Sportsman’s Club for the phenomenal job they did helping to organize the annual Clay Shoot on April 27th. A good time was had by all! The funds raised each year at this event go to the Boys & Girls Club of America.
SOFTBALL PLAYERS NEEDED!
If you are interested in playing on Local 340’s Softball Team “340 Electricians” call Brother Matt Meredith @ 916-856-8652. All games, other than tournament games, are played locally @ Rusch Park at 7801 Auburn Boulevard in Citrus Heights on Friday evenings.
STATE FAIR BOOTH
Come see us this year at the California State Fair on Saturday July 13th. We will have members manning the Union Booth, discussing how to join the IBEW and handing out freebies to the crowd. It is always a treat for the members working the booth when a Local 340 member and their families stop by.
ACCIDENTS & ILLNESSES
Brother John Williams spent time in the hospital in early May with some health issues. Brother Williams is very appreciative of the prayers and positive thoughts sent his way! At this writing, he is home recuperating.
