NEW BUSINESS OFFICE & TRUST OFFICE LOCATION
We are getting closer to our move to Rancho Cordova and want to remind everyone that when the Business Office, Trust Office and the LMCC office moves, you will receive a postcard with the actual move date. In the meantime, it is business as usual at El Centro Road. Note: The JATC is not moving with us this summer. Our training center will remain, at this time, on El Centro Road.
UNIT MEETINGS
Quarterly Unit meetings are held for our Sound & Communications members and our Civil Service members who work for the City and County of Sacramento. We prepared for these meeting in the months of January, April, July and October. However, in order to hold a Unit meeting exclusively for these classifications, the IBEW Constitution defines a quorum for union meetings as seven members unless that classification is less than 75 individuals, at which that would be five members needed for a quorum. In other words, we need members showing up at the quarterly meetings to have the meeting.
At the April 19th Civil Service Unit meeting over 5 members attended and since we have less than 75 members in that classification, we were able to hold that meeting. However, at the regularly scheduled S&C unit meeting of April 24th, only 1 member showed up (we needed at least 7 since at present we have 196 Sound & Communication members). Therefore, no quorum, no meeting.
If you want to be involved with issues pertaining only to your classifications, you need to make it a point to attend your Unit quarterly meetings. Thank you.
SCHOLARSHIP WINNERS:
This years’ winners have been notified and will be presented with their scholarships at the Membership Meeting scheduled for July 11th. It was a very hard decision this year as the applicants were incredible. They were so good, that the Executive Board gave out a 3rd place award, instead of just 1st and 2nd. Please come to the July meeting to congratulate these young women and to hear them read the essays they wrote on “Why Unions are good for America”. Congratulations to:
1st Place – Michele Amber Campbell (granddaughter of 60 year retired member Brother Burt Campbell)
2nd Place – Jasmine Aliah Prasad (daughter of active member Brother Jason Prasad)
3rd Place – Esperanza Marie Damian (daughter of active member Brother Gilbert Damian)

The fliers and RSVP’s will be mailed to you in early July.
ACCIDENTS/ILLNESS
Brother Justin Gomez is still recuperating but from the looks of it, he is keeping his positive attitude regarding receiving a 2nd kidney transplant. We hope it will be soon, Brother. Please continue to remember Brother Gomez in your thoughts and prayers.
