MOVE YET?
We are receiving calls from members inquiring when the Business Office will be moving into the new building in Rancho Cordova. Currently, we are in the middle of a remodel, preparing these offices for our Staff. We are still hoping for a move-in date sometime in April, Once we make that move, every member and affiliate will receive a “We’ve Moved” postcard announcing the new address and other information. This will all be posted on our website as well. In the meantime, we are busy packing up at El Centro Road and happy to serve you in this building which served us well for many years.
REDDING OFFICE REMODEL & BUYOUT
The Redding remodel has now been completed. The Plumbers have moved out and we are now the sole owners of the Redding property. Brother Andrew Meredith is returning to his regular schedule of manning our two Northern branch offices as follows:
Monday Wednesday Fridays – Chico Office
Tuesdays & Thursdays – Redding Office
SOUND & COMMUNICATION CONTRACT RATIFICATION
Thank you to the 71 Sound & Communications members who showed up for the Discussion and Vote held on January 23rd. Local 340’s Addendum 2C has now been approved by our International Office and copies of your new wage sheets have been mailed to you. Once we receive a final printed copy of the 9th District Sound & Communication Agreement Northern California Addendum #2 which will include Local 340’s approved Addendum 2C verbiage and wages, those will be available to you as well. Also want to thank Local 595 Business Representative Brother Dave Nelson and International Representative Brother Mike Meals who attended the January meeting to further answer many of your questions.
MONTHLY BASIC DUES INCREASE – ALL ACTIVE MEMBERS
There are still quite a few members who are not mailing in the correct amount for payment of basic monthly dues. Please note: we cannot issue a current dues receipt unless full dues are received. If you are mailing in your checks or having your bank send in automated checks, they must be for the correct amount. Thank you.
ST. PATRICK’S DAY PARADE – OLD SACRAMENTO – SATURDAY 03/17/18
Local 340 members and families will once again participate in the St. Patrick’s Day Parade on Saturday March 17th in Old Sacramento. It’s not a long parade route (just a few blocks in Old Sacramento) but it is a great opportunity for the Local Union to get a whole lot of positive exposure in the Sacramento community. We are going to decorate the golf cart again, as well as hand out specially-designed green Thundersticks that read “IBEW Local 340 – Irish for a Day – Union for Life”. If you and your family members want to join us, we will meet at the Old Schoolhouse yard in front of Joe’s Crab Shack in Old Sacramento between 11:00 and 11:30 AM. The parade starts at 1:00 PM. This year, we are giving out two member prizes!
- Most decorated IBEW family –“Family Basket of Green Goodies”
- Most decorated individual – $50.00 gift card
Remember, this is open to all IBEW members and families! For more information, contact Lindsey at the Hall 916-927-4239.
LOCAL 340 SPORT’S NEWS:
340 Soft Ball Team – Crab Feed
Looking forward to the 9th Annual Softball Team Crab Feed on Saturday March 10th. Although we will not be in the new building by then, the team is going to host the crab feed at the Hall in the new building. Tickets for this event are going fast.
The Softball team placed 1st in the 2017 Summer League Division at Rusch Park last year! Congratulations goes out too all of the players. If you would like to take your family out some evening to support the team, watch for a posting of their game schedules in the very near future.
340’s Basketball Team – The Sparkeez
A year ago, this team got together for the opportunity to play at the Golden One Arena against the Plumbers Union. Although they did not win that game, the team continued to play and were happy to announce that they finished 2nd in the League last year. Congratulations goes out to the team. If interested in supporting them, they play at Rusch Park and we will also be posting the schedule of basketball games in the near future.
IBEW 340 Day at the Bay
This annual Fishing Trip is currently scheduled for Saturday August 11th. Tickets are $140.00 each which does include a T-shirt commemorating the day. IBEW NOR-CAL Sporting Clay Shoot
At this writing there are still some openings for this day of brotherhood with fellow IBEW Union members, families, friends and other Trade Unions. Local 340 is a major sponsor of this annual fundraiser to be held on Saturday April 7th and we will be raffling off 4 spots to this Clay Shoot at the March 7th Union Meeting. However, in the meantime, space is limited, so if you are interested in being a sponsor for this event or signing up as an individual shooter, you can call our hall for an application, or you can call or email Ms. Liz McInnis from Local 1245 at 707-452-2720. All proceeds will be donated to the Boys & Girls Club.
ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP PICNIC – SATURDAY 09/15/18
As we previously announced, the annual membership picnic will be held at Hagan Community Park in Rancho Cordova in the beautiful Pavilion picnic spot. We are really looking forward to having it at this location this year as it is only 3½ miles from the new hall. This is going to save us a lot of time and it will be a lot easier for our volunteers to get everything to and from the Hall on picnic day. I want you to know that we have heard you and this year we will be adding some additional member participation activities, as well as a slightly revised menu. Details will follow when you receive your flier in early July. In the meantime, if you want to be part of the Picnic Committee, call Reyna at the Hall. She will let you know when and where the next picnic meeting will be held. Help in the planning of the picnic and help on picnic day is always needed and greatly appreciated.
